USA Gets Local Star

Vigor High School has put many fine players into the college ranks over the years. Unlike years past, however, players now have an option to stay close to home and still play FBS football at South Alabama. One of those young men has decided to do just that.
Paul Kyles
, a 6'3" 245lb tight end from Vigor, has decided to be one of the local athletes that will help build the USA program. Kyles is a three-star prospect that is ranked 48th at his position nationally. At one point
South Alabama
had been looking at him as a defensive end, but his outstanding pass-catching ability makes him too valuable to deny him a chance on offense.
Kyles reportedly had offers from
Troy
,
Memphis
and
Auburn
as well as interest from several other schools, such as
Mississippi State
,
Southern Miss
and
UAB
. His primary reasons for choosing South Alabama were academics (we wants to major in engineering) and the chance to be a part of young program where winning is already the accepted standard.
Kyles did not play football before entering high school, which makes his potential intriguing. He is strong and athletic, which helps at every position, and has great balls skills, which is why he will start as a tight end at USA. He is also a tenacious blocker, which may signal an opportunity to grow into an offensive lineman somewhere down the road.
From the spate of quality early commitments that USA has already gathered, it is obvious that the approach of FBS football has raised the program's profile considerably. There are several more prospects who have indicated they are close to joining the 2012 recruiting class, so stay with JagsJungle.com as we keep you current on all the USA news.
