Big Man Checking Out Options

Aaron Durley, once a gigantic sensation as a player in the Little League World Series, has matured into a 6'10" 275lb basketball prospect. The developing center prospect is attracting attention as he enters his senior season at George Bush High School in Houston.

After pursuing baseball as a youngster, Durley has focused on basketball the last several years. An Achilles tendon injury as a sophomore delayed his progress for a time but he has now completely recovered. His rapid improvement has gotten him attention from several programs and he has already visited Marquette, South Alabama and UT-Chattanooga and a visit to South Florida is upcoming.

Durley is not certain if he will sign this fall or wait until spring, but he does know what he's looking for in a prospective college home.

"First of all, I want to go to a winning program," said Durley. "Second of all, I'm looking for development and third I'm looking for academics. I know with the grades I make that I can do fine just about anywhere."

Durley gave a rundown of how his three visits have shaped up so far.

"At Chattanooga, I basically fell in love with the coaching staff. I think Coach Shulman has a good and everything else going on over there, so I think that could really be good."

"Marquette is Big East basketball. I really enjoyed Coach Williams and the other coaches on the staff. The players were really cool and great to be around."

"I enjoyed it (his visit to USA). It was a nice environment and I liked the coaches and all the players. Coach Arrow runs a tight ship over there but everyone's working toward the same goal. Coach Taylor is the coach recruiting me. He's been on me the most. He wants to see me do well and I just like talking to that guy."

Now that he's healthy, Durley's goal this year to lead his school to a championship, a difficult goal in a very competitive Texas high school league. With his impeccable manners, outgoing personality, obvious intelligence and athletic prowess, he'll certainly have many fans cheering for him along the way.
