Ellis Hill Talks about his commitment
Hill has ties to the Mobile area, and that may have helped South Alabama with their recruitment of Ellis Hill.
"My Mom is from Mobile, and I have family in the Mobile area, so it is kind of like a second home to me. I visited South Alabama last summer but I didn't get to see everything. I will probably take my official visit after football season," Hill commented.
While Ellis Hill likes the Mobile area his recruitment was handled by Coach Dameyune Craig. Coach Craig is the wide receivers coach for South Alabama, and former starting quarterback at Auburn University. Hill gives Coach Craig a resounding endorsement as a recruiter, and a person.
"I really like Coach Craig," Hill said. "He was honest with me from the very beginning. He handled himself well and he's a very good man. Everything he told me was exactly as he said. That isn't the case with all the recruiters out there. Coach Craig is a big reason I am a Jaguar today."
"I also like Coach Joey Jones. I only met him one time, and he seemed to be like Coach Craig. Everything I've heard about Coach Jones is positive. Everyone says he is a very good person, and from what I can tell that is the case."
"He [Jones] played at Alabama, which is big-time college football. Coach Craig played at Auburn, so both have played at the highest level and I feel like they know what it takes to achieve success as a college football player," Hill stated.
Ellis Hill reflects on his season thus far, and what he see's in the near future.
"We are 6-2 this season and hopefully we are going to end up as the third seed out of our region. If we do that we will likely get Mountain Brook in the first round of the playoffs.
"I have over a 1,000 yards rushing on the season, and 17 touchdowns. We are playing well as a team, and I'm looking forward to finishing the season strong. Our goal is to make it to Birmingham to play in the state title game. We know that is a tough road to travel, but that's what we want to do as a team," Hill explained.
"It's getting close to the end of the season, and as a senior I have some mixed emotions. I'm happy to be going to college to live out my dream of playing college football, but I will miss playing with these guys. I have played my entire life with most of the players on my team, they are my friends, and I will miss that," Hill concluded.
Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa will travel the short distance to face Northridge Friday night at 7 PM. The game is considered a rivalry for each of the two teams.
