Dillon Lowman back from Tuscaloosa

Dillon Lowman is a 6-4, 300-pound offensive/defensive tackle for Coach Dan Hogan and the Winston County Yellow Jackets., and he recently attended the University of Alabama’s one-day lineman camp. Lowman discusses his performance in this latest interview with Jagsjungle.com.
Lowman had an off-season automobile accident that held him out of all off-season work-outs a year ago, and the big two-way tackle has been working hard to try and make up lost ground in the strength and conditioning program.
Lowman had five days of practice before he started every game for Winston County last season, and while he never missed a play at offensive tackle he didn’t get to play on the defensive side of the ball.
Coach Dan Hogan discusses Lowman’s progress.
“Dillon has worked very hard to try to get back to where he was before the accident,” Coach Hogan said. “After his sophomore season he had a lot of schools showing interest in his ability, but once he had the accident things slowed down for him.”
“He will play on both sides of the ball for us this season, and he actually looked better on defense in the spring jamboree than he did on offense. He dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball the entire night. We moved him around on defense; we played him at nose, and at defensive tackle. We even played him at strong defensive end some. He performed very well at every position,” Hogan noted.
“I believe Dillon has the potential to make someone a good lineman at the next level. He has worked harder this summer than he has ever worked before and he is close to being back to where he was a year ago strength-wise, while his technique and footwork are improved. He will be fine by fall season,” Coach Hogan stated.
Lowman discusses his performance at lineman camp in Tuscaloosa.
“I had a good time, and I believe I did pretty well,”
Dillon Lowman
said from his home in Double Springs, Ala.
“We went through a lot of drills and a lot of guys had to drop out due to the heat. I would guess somewhere around 30-to-40 guys had to be helped off the field during the day.”
“After we worked on technique and footwork we did some one-on-one. I did well in the one-on-one drills, I just allowed one guy to get past me the entire time. I had blocked everyone I went against and they put this speed guy out there with me and he got by me. I would have liked another shot at him, but I never got to go against him again,” Lowman noted.
“After the camp a couple of
Alabama
coaches came over and asked me where I was from and then they invited me to come back this fall to watch a game. Overall I had a great time and I was proud that I was still fresh after the camp was over. I could have kept going if they would have wanted me too,” he said.
Lowman talks about the schools that are showing him interest.
“I haven’t heard from that many schools.
South Alabama
, Alabama,
Colorado
and some smaller schools have all shown some interest in me.”
“I was invited to camp at Colorado, and to Alabama’s senior camp, but I have been working a summer job and I haven’t had time to get to any camps. I am probably going to camp at UNA this weekend, and I would like to make it to some others this summer if I can,” Lowman concluded.
